The Sun emits energy at all wavelengths from radio to gamma. But it emits most of its energy to 500 nm, close to blue green. So one must say the Sun is blue- green. This maximum radiation is governed by Sun's surface temperature 5800 K But this is physics, not perception. If we were above the atmosphere, say in the International Space Station the Sun would appear WHITE!!?Though the Sun emits the strongest in blue green it also emits in all the visible colors, red through blue. Our eyes have three color cone receptors which report to the brain and our brains perceive white color.
Here, on Earth, the atmosphere scatter some blue light, so we lose some blue light, as sunlight passes through atmosphere and reaches our eyes. Our brains perceive it as yellow. Our perception of color is influenced by the wavelength of emitted light, environment factors, limitations of our eyes to collect light and by our brains.
