USA record of 768 km long lighting megaflash

A new world record for lightning has been recorded. In the US states of Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi, a record of a lightning flash has been seen in 768 km area. According to the World Meteorological Organization of the United Nations, this record-breaking lightning occurred on April 29, 2020. Earlier, the highest length of lightning in a single flash was recorded in Brazil in 2018. It was 709 km long.

Randall Cerveni, head of the records department at the World Meteorological Organization, said: "It was an extraordinary event to see this flash of lightning coming together in such a large area. We are able to calculate like this, it shows how much science has progressed." have taken." Cerveni also informed that this incident happened amidst clouds, several thousand feet above the earth. However, while shining, it also fell on the ground several times. But it is not known about any accident caused by this.

Another record related to electricity was made in Uruguay and northern Argentina. The year was 2020. In these Latin American countries, a flash of lightning was seen for 17.1 seconds.

Cerveni believes that there is still a lot of potential for discovery in this area. It may be that there may be even bigger, longer and harmful lightning strikes, their detection is the next challenge of science. This will be possible with technological improvements.
